if you check the band descriptors for the task 2 essay, you will see that cohe
rence and cohesion are very important. Coherence is the quality or state of co
hering, which means coming together and forming a unified whole, especially w
ith a logical, orderly, and aesthetically consistent relationship of parts.
In essay writing, coherence refers to the organization of ideas. If your essay
lacks coherence, we say it is incoherent and you might know that incoherent m
eans lacking in clarity or organization -- disordered.
So the ideas in the essay must be stated correctly and accurately, must be in
the right order, must connect together logically, etc.
