After a period of front office turmoil and coaching turnover, the Sacramento
Kings seem to have finally found their pairing for the foreseeable future in
George Karl as the coach and Vlade Divac as the key basketball ops decision
maker under owner Vivek Ranadive.

We know that Karl will want to run a pretty uptempo scheme based around heavy
pick-and-roll, but the roster doesn't really totally fit that kind of scheme
yet. And with DeMarcus Cousins as the clear franchise centerpiece, it's clear
Karl will have to adjust slightly. However, Divac is a totally new element in
the scheme of basketball ops, having spent a majority of his time over the
past decade in Serbia working for the national team.

That means things could be a bit surprising with the Kings, depending on what
ends up becoming available at No. 6 overall. Here's a quick breakdown of the
needs and options for the team.

NEEDS -- POINT GUARD, SHOOTING, DEFENSE, FRONTCOURT DEPTH

The Kings have quite a few needs, and could go in any direction that they
want with this pick. But a few overall big roster problems generally stick
out. First and foremost, it's paramount that they get better defensively next
season. The Kings finished 27th in defensive rating last season, allowing 109
points per 100 possessions. Particularly, the team was awful defending in
transition, as they gave up more points than any other team in the NBA in
that situation according to Synergy. Getting more players who will
consistently get back quickly defensively will be essential to building this
roster.

Still though, this defense wasn't exactly great in halfcourt situations
either, giving up 91.9 points-per-100 possessions, 27th in the NBA. There are
no playmakers on that side of the ball for this team. They finished 27th in
forced turnover rate, and they struggled to get out on spot-up shooters as
they gave up the third-most 3-point attempts in the league. Cousins has
turned into a solid defender inside both around the rim and in the post, but
surrounding him they need to start filling the roster with better talent on
that side of the ball.

On offense, the team needs to shoot the ball better from the outside if
they're going to be successful in George Karl's system. Nik Stauskas should
give them some natural progression in that regard next season after his rough
rookie campaign, but if that never comes along they will need a backup plan
for more shooting from the wing.

在進攻端上，如果在Karl的進攻體系要成功，隊上是需要更好的外圍投射能力的。

Another need for the team is at point guard, where Darren Collison had a
solid season in his maiden voyage with the Kings, but could certainly be
upgraded upon. Even if they feel comfortable with Collison in the mix as the
starter, they undoubtedly need depth behind him. Andre Miller is a free agent
and, despite being joined at the hip with Karl, is on his last legs as a pro,
and Ray McCallum hasn't shown anything quite yet to get terribly excited
about.

FIVE POTENTIAL OPTIONS

Emmanuel Mudiay | PG | Guangdong, China | Ranking: No. 3

Mudiay would represent a perfect fit in Karl's system as a pick-and-roll
heavy guard that can get into the lane whenever he wants. He not only makes
plays for others and finds open spot up shooters with ease, but he also
scores at the rim and has a projectable frame defensively. If he fell to No.
6, it would be hard to see why they would pass on him, given his value and
schematic fit.

Mudiay在打P&R的時候很如魚得水，大概能夠完美適應Karl體系下的PG一職。他不僅能夠
作球給隊友，簡單的找到外圍的定點大空檔，而且他也能殺入籃下得分又有計劃性的
防守策略。如果他掉到#6還沒人要，在他的球技價值跟體系適合度下，很難想像國王會
跳過他。

Willie Cauley-Stein | C/PF | Kentucky | Ranking: No. 8

Cauley-Stein is reportedly the guy that Cousins wants the Kings to pick, and
it's not the worst idea to keep your star happy, especially when it involves
a player of this potential defensive star's stature. Cauley-Stein would be a
pretty perfect fit defensively with Cousins, hopefully allowing the big man
to take on easier defensive assignments that fit his skillset better. There
would be some offensive problems while Cauley-Stein gets used to more plays
in the pick-and-roll (Kentucky used it rarely last season), but this would
also be a terrific fit.

Justise Winslow | SG/SF | Duke | Ranking: No. 6

He hasn't really been linked to the Kings yet, but he'd fit pretty well in a
positionless lineup in between Ben McLemore and Rudy Gay. They would combine
to give the Kings a lot of athleticism and versatility, and would also have
the potential to really shoot the ball if Winslow and McLemore could keep
developing in that regard. That kind of lineup screams "George Karl" to me.

Mario Hezonja | SG/SF | Barcelona | Ranking: No. 7

Another potential shooter that would give them some athleticism on the wing.
Karl would really have fun with him, allowing him to run out in transition
with his point guard and shoot the heck out of the ball. He also has some
pretty underrated playmaking skills from the wing that could be interesting
in this system. He wouldn't help their defense at all, but he'd have a good
chance of reaching his ceiling with this team.

Kristaps Porzingis | PF | Sevilla | Ranking: No. 5

Porzingis would be an incredible fit here next to Cousins, but he goes at the
bottom of this list for a few reasons. First and foremost, it seems like this
team wants to win soon to prove to Cousins that they're moving in the right
direction. Porzingis is a terrific long-term prospect, but it might take him
two years to really adjust to the NBA physically and speed-wise. Second, I
don't think he'll be here for them when their pick comes around, as the Magic
and Sixers seem pretty high on him.

KP會是胖子的絕佳搭擋，但在這個清單的底部才提到他是有些原因的。首先，國王隊
看起來是想要證明給胖子看他們是走在正確的方向上的，要快點贏球。KP是個需要長期

TRADE

交易選項

Trade up: I would guess that the Kings do not look to move up in the draft
simply because there are so many options that fit for them where they are.
Any of the five potential options fit the way this roster is likely going,
and you've got to assume that at least three of them will be on the board as
Karl Towns, Jahlil Okafor and D'Angelo Russell will be safely taken.

向上交易:我猜國王不會往上交易啦，簡單來說就是那公認的三~五個潛力股人家要自己
選來養不想換啦!

Trade down: To me, this is more likely, although I don't know that I see it
happening. There are a lot of options here, so moving down a couple of spots
could still ensure them getting one of their guys. But having said that, I
don't think it would be crazy if instead of trading down, they...

向下交易:在我看來這是比較有可能的，雖然我不知道會不會發生。還是有一些好貨在
後面可以挑，所以向下交易幾個順位也許還是能夠補到需要的人。但說起來嘛，我不認為
向下交易是愚蠢的行為，畢竟他們...(應該是在酸說近幾年選秀都蠻失敗的意思)

Trade out: The Kings could very well decide to try to light this proverbial
candle and make their move for contention now. Ty Lawson is sitting there on
the trade market, and we know that he is a perfect fit with George Karl. He's
also probably just straight up worth the sixth overall pick. He has two years
remaining on his deal, and he's pretty close to being an elite offensive
point guard in this league. The Kings would probably be lucky to get someone
as good as Lawson with this pick in a couple of years. Plus, he's young
enough still to where you can continue to build around him once his contract
runs up after two seasons. There might need to be some additional pieces from
both sides to make something like this work, but there are worse ideas.

交易選秀權:國王隊現在要好好討論這個可能性。Ty Lawson已經被擺在交易市場上了，
而且大家都知道他在Karl手下適應的很好。他也的確值得用#6來換。他的約還剩下兩年，
進攻端在聯盟PG中也是頂尖的。國王如果能用#6得到像Ty Lawson這麼棒的球員在未來幾
年是很幸運的。加上他在兩年後約到之後還是很年輕，依舊可以繼續圍繞他打造陣容。
兩邊要完成這個交易可能都還要再加些配菜，不過這不是好主意。(所以沒換成啊)

SOMETHING OUT OF THE BOX

弦外之音

Vlade Divac has already said he has no desire to trade Cousins, but the
spectre of that potential move will likely inform their decisions for the
next couple of seasons -- either until he's made happy by the team becoming a
winner, or by him demanding out after getting sick of the organizational
problems. If Divac decides the time is right to make a move, I don't think
anyone could say that they didn't see it coming, at the very least.

老迪已經說他不會把胖子交易掉的，不過這潛在的可怕念頭在未來幾季中也許還是會出現
高層的決定之中--要嘛國王隊變成贏家讓胖子很爽，要嘛讓胖子受夠高層亂搞的毛病
要求閃人。如果老迪真的作出這決定，最起碼沒人敢說不可能發生吧。

It's also worth noting that, flat out, we have absolutely no idea what Divac
values in prospects, which gives this pick the potential for some fireworks.
If Mudiay is gone and he decides in concert with Karl that a point guard is a
necessity, maybe someone crazy like Cameron Payne ends up in play here. Maybe
they fall in love with Myles Turner's size, shooting ability, and potential
to protect the rim next to Cousins. We just don't know yet what kind of
basketball ops guy Vlade will be.

大家現在也還沒確定老迪怎麼評價這些潛力股，在選秀會會作什麼驚人之舉。如果Mudiay
被選走了，在跟Karl的合作下控球後衛是個必須的要素，也許Cameron Payne最終會來國王
也說不定。也或許他們會對Myles Turner的身體條件、投籃能力、能在胖子旁保護籃框的
潛力一見鍾情。我們還不知道老迪會是個什麼樣的籃球營運部門管理人。
