If you watch baseball enough, you're bound to see something you’ve never seen
before, or at least something that you don’t see that often.
On Wednesday night in Cincinnati, one of those plays occurred in the sixth
inning of an eventual 7-4 victory for the Los Angeles Dodgers. With Kiké
Hernandez at the plate leading off the inning against right-hander Pedro
Villarreal, the Dodgers utility guy ended up with a leadoff double. Sounds
normal enough until you watch the play and realize that the ball was originally
a routine ground ball to shortstop:
The double was Hernandez’s third hit of the night, but it didn’t lead to any
runs as the next three Dodger hitters were retired in order.
