[情報] Astro interested in Mike Napoli

Earlier in the winter, we brought you news that the Astros were interested in
adding either Miguel Cabrera or Edwin Encarnacion. On Sunday, another rumor
surfaced linking Houston to a potential first-base type.

The first baseman in question this time is erstwhile Indian Mike Napoli,
according to Ken Rosenthal:

Among hitters in whom #Astros have shown interest, per sources: Mike Napoli.
Team prefers LHH, but Nap could be 1B/DH and offer leadership.

在太空人有意追求的打者中,消息指出是Mike Napoli,太空人比較想要左打者,但是Napoli
可以當一壘手和指定打擊,而且還可以當球隊領袖。


Napoli is coming off a season that made him a fan favorite in Cleveland. He
hit .239/.335/.465 (a 104 OPS+) with 34 home runs and typically good defense
at the cold corner. The drawback to Napoli is that he's entering his mid-30s,
and that he's been closer to a league-average hitter than not the past two
seasons -- any age-related decline could make him more of a liability than an
asset.

Nonetheless, the Astros are clearly seeking a solution at first base. Last
season, Houston received little production from its collection of first
basemen -- a group that included prospects Tyler White and A.J. Reed.
Collectively, the Astros' first-sackers posted a .680 OPS, the third-worst in
baseball, ahead of only the Nationals and Yankees.

Napoli would represent an upgrade, and would allow the Astros to deploy their
infield depth elsewhere. We'll see if the Astros find Napoli's contractual
demands doable.
