When Derek Jeter founded The Players' Tribune after retiring in 2014, he

described it as "a new media platform that will present the unfiltered voices

of professional athletes." But it has also become a place for Jeter to make

major life announcements, like when he confirmed his engagement to Hannah

Davis. Or, as on Monday, when Hannah announced that she is expecting a

daughter.

Yes, Jeter will be a father.


And as with Jeter's engagement announcement, the news came in an otherwise

inconspicuous article on The Players' Tribune. Written by Hannah and titled,

"The Derek I Know," the post describes the early days of the couple's

relationship and how she eventually grew to realize she was dating Derek

Jeter. And then, two-thirds of the way through, she drops a bombshell:

"Now, pregnant with our first child, Derek and I are looking to the future."

Talk about burying the lede.

which we assume will come in a post about Jeter's favorite taco truck in New

York City. Although, according to Hannah, he already has one picked out:

"He already has a name in mind - he's set on it. (We'll see.)"
