If there's one thing in sports we know for sure in 2018, it's that athletes
are under the microscope more than ever.
若要說哪一件事情在2018年運動界大家學到甚麼的話，那大概是運動員現在像是在顯微鏡
下被放大檢視。
Wil Myers of the San Diego Padres is the latest professional athlete to learn
this lesson the hard way.
聖地牙哥教士的Wil Myers是最近一個學到這個悲慘教訓的職業運動選手。
Myers was heard criticizing manager Andy Green during a recent stream of the
video game Fortnite being done by fellow professional baseball player Carlos
Asuaje.
Myers是被聽到在跟同隊另外一個隊友Carlos Asuaje玩Fortnite在直播時批評了教士總教
練Andy Green。
"The Padres are doing cutoff and relays tomorrow at 3 o'clock – in
September, dude." Myers reportedly said.
「球隊要在明天3點做守備練習--兄弟，現在是九月耶。」Myers被報導說了這段話。
"Oh my god. It's so miserable, man. It's insane. Andy could not be any worse
than he is right now."
「我的老天，這也太可悲了吧，兄弟，腦袋瘋了嗎? Andy現在真的是在秀下限。」
Myers was cut off by Asuaje, who said "Dude, I'm streaming this."

On Monday, Myers and Green met to discuss the remarks and Myers followed up
with a public apology to reporters.
星期一時，Myers跟總教練Andy Green會面，討論了這段內容；之後Myers對記者發表了公

"I love Andy, and I love playing for him," Myers said to MLB.com. "He's a guy
that has taught me a lot in this game. At times, you get into a mood where
you get frustrated, no matter what's going on with a team or individually,
and you say some things you shouldn't say in a conversation that you think's
private. The reality is, now we're in 2018. ... I'm incredibly sorry,
obviously to Andy, to my teammates, to the fans. This is a distraction we
don't need."
「我愛Andy，我也愛為他打球，」Myers跟記者說。「他在棒球方面教了我很多東西。有時
候，不管是因為個人還是球隊的關係，人的心情比較不好，比較沮喪，然後就會自以為是
在私下未公開的狀況講了一些不應該講的話。現在是2018......我非常非常抱歉，尤其是

Green, for his part, seemed to understand where one of his star players was
coming from.
對Green來說，似乎了解了他隊上這位明星球員為何陷入這樣的狀況。
"There were no excuses," Green said. "There was just ownership and an
apology. There was, on my end, an understanding. I've done the same thing to
my boss at some point in time in my life. It just wasn't 2018, where
everything's recorded or streamed live."

也對我老闆做過同樣的事情，只是那不是像現在2018年，現在每件事都會被記錄下來或是

Myers' comments on the stream came as the Padres held drills last week before
games against the Rockies.
Myers對總教練的評論是在上星期教士要打落磯前要舉行守備練習後發生的。
"I can't say those types of things, even if it is in private," Myers said.
"Obviously, I'm terribly sorry about it. You can't complain about drills,
especially when you're trying to get better. It was not even necessarily
about the drill or Andy himself. That was just coming off being swept in
L.A., and there was some frustration there."
「即使是私下的狀況，我都不應該說那種話的，」Myers說。「我由衷的感到抱歉，沒有人
應該對演練抱怨的，尤其是你想要變好的時候。跟演練以及Andy都沒有絲毫的關係，那只

Said Green of the drills: "For us, we're pretty determined to create some
accountability and standards, and sometimes that asks for certain drills to
be done at certain times of the year, even if it's not pleasant or fun or
normal to do them at that time of year."
總教練Green講到演練：「對我們而言，我們很確定要球隊展現穩定性以及標準度，有時候
我們會在一年裡的某些時段做某些演練，即使那很無趣，很有趣，抑或是很普通去做這一
類的演練。」
Myers, who has been limited to 62 games this season, is batting .252 with 10
home runs.
Myers，本季出賽62場，目前打擊率是.252，有10發全壘打。
