Cardinals closer Jordan Hicks has torn UCL

ST. LOUIS -- An MRI examination showed that closer Jordan Hicks has a torn
UCL in his right elbow, the Cardinals announced on Monday.

經過MRI診斷後確認火球男 Jordan Hicks 右肘有UCL撕裂傷。

The team, which did not detail the extent of the tear, is determining what
its next step will be, though this particular injury often leads to
season-ending Tommy John reconstructive surgery.

僅管受這種傷的投手通常會進行TJ手術球季提前結束，球團還是沒有決定下一步如何
處理。

Hicks exited the ninth inning Saturday against the Angels after feeling a
pull in his right triceps during his last few throws to David Fletcher, who
struck out swinging. Catcher Yadier Molina noticed Hicks reaching over his
head, trying to stretch out his arm, so Molina visited the mound and motioned
to Cardinals manager Mike Shildt and athletic trainer Adam Olsen to check on
him.

在與天使隊的比賽中，Hicks雖然讓 David Fletcher 揮空三振，捕手 Monila 也注意到

After the game, Hicks was diagnosed with triceps tendinitis and said he
passed tests postgame to make sure the injury wasn’t to his elbow.

原本賽後的診斷是三頭肌肌腱炎，沒有傷到手肘。

Shildt was optimistic Sunday when asked about Hicks, saying they would rest
Hicks for a few days and would only consider putting him on the injured list
if that rest needed to be extended into the weekend. Shildt said the medical
team didn’t seem to think there was structural damage.

在星期天時，總教練樂觀的認為，如果不需要到一個星期的休養，甚至不會將他放入傷
兵名單，因為檢驗報告當時顯示沒有結構性傷害。

Now, Hicks, one of the hardest-throwing relievers in the game, is looking at
a possible season-ending injury. The 22-year-old is 2-2 with a 3.14 ERA and
14 saves this year for the Cardinals.

但現在火球男 Hicks 可能要面臨球季提前結束的手術了。
22歲的 Hicks 今年的成績是 2勝2敗，防禦率3.14，拿下了14次救援成功。
