當大拿宣布UFC 205 Main Card是Alvarez vs. McGregor之後 最悲情的應該就是Aldo了

在UFC194被McGregor 13sec KO之後 Aldo表示他唯一接受的bout只有兩種:

(1) rematch with McGregor

(2) fight for the featherweight belt (if McGregor vacates his belt)

但McGregor拿到featherweight title之後一次title defense都沒有

決定直接去挑戰當時的lightweight champion--Dos Anjos

而Dana也決定讓他暫時保有羽量級腰帶

讓他能有機會成為UFC史上唯一一位"同時"擁有兩個量級腰帶的人

(McGregor在Cage Warriors有達成這項成就)

後面的故事相信大家都很清楚了

Dos Anjos腳受傷-->Diaz遞補-->Diaz無法即時減回155lb-->bout定在weterweight(170lb)

-->McGregor在UFC196第二輪被Diaz RNC降伏

一直被晾在一旁的Aldo在賽後要求McGregor回來跟他打re-match

但McGregor當時只想復仇 完全不想理Aldo 而當時Edgar狀況也好 (5-win streak)

所以大拿決定讓Aldo和Edgar在UFC200打featherweight "interim" championship

勝者再和McGregor進行title fight

(個人覺得沒意義 說穿了只是一個用來安撫Aldo和Edgar的緩兵之計而已)

最終Aldo def. Edgar by unanimous decision @UFC200

而McGregor def. Diaz by majority decision @UFC202

Aldo心想:也該是時候讓我打re-match了吧?

結果McGregor依然想創造歷史 成為UFC two-division champion at the same time

所以再次不甩Aldo 表明想要打當時的lightweight champion--Alvarez

Alvarez在UFC Fight Night 90擊敗Dos Anjos via TKO之後

也表明他想要和Mcgregor/Diaz之間的勝者打 (money fight阿!)

但大拿認為應該要Alvarez vs. Nurmagomedov和McGregor vs. A1do比較合理

然而最後為了票房 還是決定讓McGregor在能保有自己羽量級腰帶的情況下去打Alvarez

Aldo覺得他被唬了 一個曾經將近十年不敗的冠軍被這樣搞 實在嚥不下這口氣

於是決定提前終止和UFC的合約(本來還有六場要打) 然後退休(leave MMA not just UFC)

唉...Aldo也真是夠悲情了...
