Richard Jefferson played 17 seasons in the NBA and called it a career back in
2018. But it turned out that the 39-year-old did have the option to extend
his NBA career. According to him, it just would have meant that he'd have to
play for the New York Knicks.
Richard Jefferson在NBA打了17年的球，到了2018年決定退休。不過，最近知道他曾經一
度有機會延長他在NBA打球的歲月。他說，那是得要替尼克隊打球的狀況下。

Jefferson joined the crew for the YES Network broadcast of Nets-Knicks on
Sunday, and he straight-up said that he refused to play for the Knicks.
星期天的時候，Jefferson加入了YES Network的尼克籃網轉播節目，他坦白的說他拒絕為
尼克打球。

According to Jefferson, the Knicks were the only team to come calling after
his 20-game stint in Denver. Faced with the dreaded reality of playing
basketball for the New York Knicks or retire, Jefferson said that he knew his
playing days were over. He opted to retire instead.
他說，在他在丹佛金塊的二十場比賽後，尼克是唯一一支隊伍打電話給他的。所以，選擇
要面對替尼克打球的悲慘狀況或是選擇退休，Jefferson說他知道他在NBA打球的日子結束
了，所以他選擇了退休。

Jefferson said: "I refused to play for the Knicks. Jason Kidd and Kenyon
Martin — they don't really care. Me — I was the one person that said,
'Knicks? No. I'll retire.' That's why I retired. They were the one team that
offered me a job, and I decided to retire. It's true. I decided to retire
instead of playing for the Knicks. ... I just knew it was time. When the
Knicks were looking for me to play for them, I knew my time in this league
was over."
Jefferson說：「我拒絕替尼克打球。Jason Kidd跟Kenyon Martin他們不在乎，但是我是
說，「替尼克打球？不了，我退休。」那就是我退休的原因。他們是唯一一支隊伍要給我
工作的，但是我決定退休。那是真的，我寧可退休也不要替尼克打球....我只是知道時候
到了，當尼克來找我打球的時候，我知道我在NBA打球的時光結束了。」
