nothing”
After a strong first-round series against the Nuggets, Gobert once again found
 himself facing criticism following Minnesota’s playoff exit.

One of the biggest talking points in the second-round series between the
Minnesota Timberwolves and San Antonio Spurs was whether Rudy Gobert could
slow down Victor Wembanyama. But instead of their head-to-head matchup
defining the outcome, things went the other way entirely.

在明尼蘇達灰狼與聖安東尼奧馬刺的第二輪系列賽中，最大的話題之一，就是 Rudy
Gobert能否限制Victor Wembanyama。

但最終決定結果的並非他們之間的正面對決；事情最後完全朝另一個方向發展。

Gobert looked like a shadow of himself, especially in Game 6, where the
Timberwolves were blown out at home and eliminated from the playoffs. His
performance drew sharp criticism, as he finished with just three rebounds in
22 minutes and did not record any other stats.

Shannon Sharpe was especially critical of the French center, calling him a
liability in that game. He pointed to both the low output and the context — a
 $36.5 million salary and more than a decade of NBA experience — as reasons
the performance stood out so negatively.

“We’ve seen this far too many times that Rudy Gobert becomes unplayable. You
 cannot have a guy making $40, $50 million. I don’t care about the position
that becomes unplayable,” he said. “I can’t have him on the court in the
fourth quarter because he can’t shoot. I can’t have Rudy on the court
because not only is he a liability defensively, but he’s more of a liability
offensively. He gave me nothing.”

Rudy Gobert看起來完全不像原本的自己，尤其是在第六戰，當時明尼蘇達灰狼在主場

Gobert was awful vs. Spurs
Wembanyama had a solid series, averaging 19.8 points, 12.0 rebounds and 4.2
blocks over six games. But what truly stood out was the comfort and ease with
which other Spurs players were getting to the rim and scoring, as if no one
was protecting it for the Wolves.

Whenever the Spurs made a run, it seemed as if Gobert’s presence was
nonexistent. And it wasn’t just one bad game.

Over the course of the series, Gobert averaged 6.7 points, 8.0 rebounds and 1.
0 blocks — numbers that are simply not acceptable from one of the main guys
on a serious, championship-contending team.

What makes it even worse is that Anthony Edwards, playing injured, averaged a
series-high 23.7 points per game. Yet Gobert failed to provide the defensive
presence the team needed, leaving the Timberwolves exposed and struggling to
contain their opponents throughout the matchup.

☑ Gobert對馬刺的表現非常糟糕 

Victor Wembanyama 在這輪系列賽其實打得不錯，六場比賽平均繳出 19.8 分、12.0 籃

Gobert failed once again
Ironically, this has been the dominant narrative surrounding Gobert throughout
 his career. He shows glimpses of his capability, but when his team starts
relying on him, he fails to deliver. And that’s exactly what happened in the
2026 playoffs.

Gobert was extremely impressive in the first round series against the Denver
Nuggets, where he ensured Nikola Jokic didn’t have his way — the three-time
MVP shot just 44.6 percent from the field and 19.4 percent from downtown. But
against the Spurs, such defensive impact was nowhere to be found.

While the Timberwolves’ playoff exit cannot be placed on one player,
performances like this inevitably fuel criticism from fans and analysts. And
unfortunately for Gobert, that has been a recurring thing throughout his
career.

☑ Gobert再次失敗了　

諷刺的是，這幾乎已成為外界對Gobert職業生涯的主要評價：他偶爾會展現自己的能力，
但當球隊真正開始依賴他時，他卻無法繳出應有表現。2026年季後賽，似乎又再次上演
這劇情。

Gobert在首輪對金塊隊的系列賽其實表現非常出色，他成功限制了Nikola Jokic，讓
這位三屆MVP的投籃命中率只有44.6%，三分命中率更低到19.4%。但到了對馬刺系列賽，
這樣的防守影響力卻完全消失。

雖然灰狼隊季後賽出局不能只怪罪單一球員，但像這樣的表現，仍不可避免地會引來
球迷與評論員批評。而對Gobert來說，不幸的是，這種情況在他的職業生涯一再上演。
