The New York Knicks are NBA champions again, and despite the gravity of that
fact, Jalen Brunson found a moment after the final buzzer to address one of
the contentious stories of their title run.

Taylor Swift became part of the Finals conversation during Game 4, when Monica
 McNutt questioned her Knicks loyalty on the radio broadcast and sparked an
immediate backlash from fans who knew better.

The Swifties pushed back hard, McNutt later apologized, and the story could
easily have followed New York into its championship celebration. But after the
 Knicks finished the job and ended their long wait for a title, Brunson
stepped in to quell the flames.

McNutt later walked it back after fans pointed out Swift’s Knicks connection,
 with the broadcaster left eating her words.

Brunson wanted the whole thing to cool down. In a clip posted on X, he said:
“I just want to say something to the Swifties. She’s a really good one. Cut
her some slack. It’s all good, I promise.”

championship run will be remembered for far more than celebrity-row drama.

Brunson’s message was simple enough. The Knicks are champions after a wait of
 over 50 years, the city is celebrating, and the drama can be left behind.
