coached against some great players in my career. He’d be one of them. Got a
list of Kevin Durant or Derrick Rose or … Kawhi Leonard … (Flagg) is on
that level.”
Such praise, and Flagg’s name milling alongside mega-watt stars, has become
commonplace. Yet everyone knows we are nowhere close to the crescendo of the
Cooper Flagg hype train. That’s still coming. So, as every national
spotlight simultaneously turns toward this teenager, an unspoken rule has
emerged on Duke’s campus:
Let the young man have his peace, and the little time he has left.
Because if it weren’t for what’s coming, he’d hold onto this as long as he
could.
“S—,” Cooper says, “I want to come back next year.”
