The NBA's Aspiration x Kawhi Leonard investigation has grown in scope.
The company discussed using Leonard in a marketing campaign,
according to multiple former employees who spoke with The Athletic.
Those efforts went so far as to include mockups depicting Leonard as an
offshoot of Marvel's Groot, tying into Aspiration's promise to plant trees
to offset customers' carbon footprints.
After weeks of trying to make the Marvel concept work and
brainstorming other ideas, the creative team was told to stop.
"Stop thinking about Kawhi," one former employee recalled being told.
"This feels like a dead end."
NBA 針對 Aspiration 與 Kawhi 的調查範圍已經進一步擴大。
根據多位接受《The Athletic》採訪的前員工透露，
該公司曾討論過在行銷活動中使用 kawhi
這些計畫甚至進展到製作了示意圖，將kawhi描繪成漫威角色「Groot」
以呼應 Aspiration 承諾透過種植樹木來抵消客戶碳足跡的宣傳。
在花了數週嘗試讓這個漫威概念成真並激盪其他創意之後，
創意團隊卻被告知停止這項專案。
一位前員工回憶當時被告知的內容：「別再想 kawhi了，這感覺像是一條死胡同。」
