10:08pm: The club is not negotiating with Black and “never came close to an
agreement with him,” Nightengale tweets.

The team offered him two guaranteed years in a contract, along with multiple
team options, Adam Kilgore of the Washington Post reports on Twitter. That
term was not to Black’s liking, says Kilgore, and it appears that talks
never gained traction.

9:41pm: Washington “will offer” Baker the job, Jon Heyman of CBSSports.com
now reports. The organization was “leaning toward” the veteran manager this
weekend, says Heyman, who suggests that reports of Black’s impending hiring
may have been premature.

9:13pm: The Nationals were reportedly set to name Bud Black as their next
manager, but indications have arisen today that things are not yet settled.
Obviously, the deal remains unannounced despite the fact that the World
Series has wrapped up.

The club and the skipper-to-be were “still ironing out contract terms”
 earlier today, James Wagner of the Washington Post tweeted. The TalkNats.com
blog had said earlier today that there were still open issues with the
contract (specifically, the term of the deal).

Now, there are indications that the arrangement with Black may be blown up in
its entirety. Indeed, Washington “may still” hire Dusty Baker, according to
Jon Heyman of CBSSports.com. He was said to be the other finalist for the
position, and sources tell Heyman that he could now be the favorite to take
over the dugout given the apparent inability to see eye to eye with Black.
Indeed, the team has “reached out” again to Baker after being “unable to
finalize” a deal with Black, per Bob Nightengale of USA Today (via Twitter).

It’s unclear exactly where things stand now, but needless to say this
probably isn’t an outcome that Nationals GM Mike Rizzo was looking for after
entering the market in search of a steady hand in the dugout. It’s hard to
argue with the player personnel record of the veteran executive, but he hasn’
t had it as easy on the managerial side of things. Rizzo came under fire for
picking prior skipper Matt Williams, who was roundly criticized and ended up
canned. And he previously dealt with the mid-season resignation of Jim
Riggleman.

看起來Black對他的合約沒有共識，所以國民也給了Baker一份總教的的offer....
