Magic coaches are giving players lots to learn

After four training-camp practices over two days, some of the methods
employed by Scott Skiles and his assistant coaches are becoming clear.

The Orlando Magic's new coaching staff is giving players a lot to digest at
the moment, focusing on details and conducting drills designed to shore up
the team's defense

經過兩天四次的訓練後，Skill與他的助教們訓練方向很明確，教練團準備了很多讓

"We try to kind of overload the guys with offensive things the first three or
four days," Skiles said after the Magic's morning practice Sunday. "Then we
stop, slow down. So we're trying to put a lot in and then slow down and let
it get inside their heads a little bit more."

When Magic players were asked to describe the coaching staff's style, most of
the players said they've noticed a significant attention to detail.

"Just being in the right spot on defense," point guard Elfrid Payton said.
"Being in the right spot at the right time. Making sure we're getting our
hands up. We go over that about two or three times a day in our shell drill,
and we just continue to drill on that. That's going to be something we hang
our hat on: the defensive end."

Combo forward Aaron Gordon said: "There's definitely more detail. They're
definitely very detailed. They really want us to get it right and stop us at
any time if we're not doing it right. They really want us to buy in, and I
think it's going to be beneficial to us."

In Skiles' defensive system, and with a Magic roster that lacks a dominant
rim-protector, it's crucial that Orlando's players position themselves
correctly at all times.

"The defensive system that we're putting in is simple to understand but hard
to do, if that makes any sense," Skiles said. "And, then, offensive stuff is
always a little bit harder. There's a lot more moving parts within the
offense, and you're looking at one option, another option.

在Skiles防守體系以及因為魔術隊缺乏禁區的保護神的關係，所以魔術隊場上球員的防

守位置正確性就顯的很重要。

"防守這東西，很容易懂但執行起來卻不容易。"Skiles說，"進攻就是比較需要一些流動

性，而且總是找尋著一次又另一次的機會。"

"So I'm sure their minds are a little more scrambled right now on the
offensive end. But that'll clear up. We like to overload them early on and
then take a deep breath and let it all sink in. Hopefully leading up to the
first game next week they feel real comfortable, not necessarily with
everything we're trying to run but with enough things [so] they can go out
and feel comfortable."

The Magic also held a full-contact practice Sunday afternoon.

Training camp will continue today.

Napier's take

The Magic acquired point guard Shabazz Napier in late July in a trade from
the Miami Heat, and Napier initially didn't know much about the Magic except
what he had heard from afar.

Then, Napier spent the latter portions of the offseason in Orlando and got to
know his new teammates.

"Before coming in, a lot of people kind of were saying that this team didn't
have a winning mentality," Napier said. "I think that so far has been a lie.
This team has nothing but winning mentalities. Coming from coach Skiles and
the players, I think that's one of the biggest things I've seen so far."

Napier is likely to begin the season as the Magic's third-string point guard
behind Payton and C.J. Watson.

魔術隊在七月底換來了Napier，而奶皮對於魔術隊期待他能做些什麼並不清楚。在夏天

的尾巴，奶皮花了點時間來認識他的新隊友。

"在來這邊之前，很多人都說這支球隊沒有求勝心。"奶皮說，"我想到到目前來看，那是

個謊言，這隻球隊窮到只剩下求勝心。從教練或是隊友，那些是我看過了不起的事情。"

奶皮在新球季將會擔任Payton與Watson之後的第三號後衛。
