ꀊꀊPosition Overview:
We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled individual to join our engineeri
ng team as a Python Developer with an Optical or Physics Engineering Backgroun
d. This role is ideal for a hands-on developer who can blend strong Python pro
gramming skills with practical experience in optical testing and validation pr
oduction environment. You will play a crucial role in designing, developing, a
nd maintaining automated test systems in python for our cutting-edge optical p
roducts, ensuring high performance, quality, and scalability
ꀊꀊDaily Responsibilities:
Production Software Point of Contact: Maintain and deploy software systems wit
hin factory
environments. This is production-grade software, not lab scripts.
Vendor Integration: Work on-site with vendor engineers to ensure smooth system
launches and stable production ramps.
Intelligent Data Analysis: Monitor production data. Must identify issues early
by
spotting “impossible” numbers (e.g., if a sensor reports a value that defies
physics,ꀊshould know something is off).
On-Site Debugging: Identify and resolve “corner cases” (rare, complex bugs)
that only
appear in high-volume production. For all the bugs and failures, this person s
hould deep
dive into the issue, either find the solution or seek assistance from the US t
eam with the
first round of investigation results.
Key Skills and Technical Bar
Python Mastery (Non-Negotiable): 80% of the daily workload is Python coding.
Must have experience building or deploying scalable, production-style systems,
not just running simple scripts on a computer
Strong Image Processing experienceꀊStrong Python Proficiency: In-depth knowledge of the Python programming langua
ge and relevant libraries (e.g., NumPy, pandas, Matplotlib) for test automatio
n and data manipulation
Infrastructure Environment (Plus): Proficiency with Docker, Linux, and Server
management.
Optical Knowledge: A solid understanding of optical principles, components, an
d common testing methodologies/equipment (e.g., power meters, spectrometers, i
maging systems)
Domain Knowledge: Scientific Intuition: A strong sense of Physics, or Optics.
Must have the “common sense “to know when a data result is physically imposs
ible.
Test Experience: Experience with software testing methodologies and familiarit
y with test automation frameworks is preferred.
Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to diagnose and
resolve complex technical challenges.
Image Processing (Plus): Hands-on experience with computer vision or image dat
a is highly preferred.
Work Style:
● Mobility: Based in Shanghai but requires 60% travel to vendor sites.
● The “On-Call” Mindset: Production schedules are unpredictable. Must be co
mfortable with flexible working hours, including evenings and Saturdays.
Education:
Bachelors or Masters in EE, ECE, Robotics, Automation
