OAKLAND, Calif. – Suns rookie Dragan Bender’s playing time in the rotation
might only have come in Tyson Chandler's absence but his unique abilities
make him a viable option whether the Suns are down in manpower or play.

雖然我作為太陽隊的新秀在輪值中的上場時間可能只有在小錢缺席時才會出現，
但是獨特的天賦已經讓我在太陽需要人力的時候成為一個可行的選項。

Bender is a skilled 7-footer who has shown 3-point range and ballhandling
but, as the NBA’s youngest player, he realizes that defense will earn his
time.

我是一個技術嫻熟的七呎長人，擁有三分球範圍的投射跟 ballhandling 能力，
但作為 NBA 最年輕的球員，我發現防守能夠為我贏得上場時間。

That is because he already has been a pro rookie. When he joined Euroleague
club Maccabi Tel Aviv last season, Bender did even more watching that he has
as a NBA rookie.

這是因為我在來 NBA 當新秀之前就已經是個職業球員，我上個球季在歐盟的
球隊比賽，比我在 NBA 當新秀的時候更多時候是在場邊看。

“I learned the hard way,” Bender said. “I came to a big club and thought I
didn’t need to play defense because of the shooting ability and everything.
But once the coach puts you on the bench and freezes you for a couple games,
you realize as a young guy you have to come inside and play defense and bring
the energy.”

「我學到了比較艱難的方式。」我說：「我來到一個大俱樂部，認為我自己不
需要防守，因為我已經有了很好的投射能力跟其他的部分了。但有一次教練把
我放在板凳上，讓我連續幾場比賽都被冰起來，我發現我作為一個年輕人就必

Bender learned how to be a versatile defender from seeing how opponents guard
him when he played point guard and wing for a lower-level club in Croatia.
Not much was asked of him defensively there. Now, he said he has grown a
desire to be a “hybrid player,” as coach Earl Watson calls him, whose niche
is an ability to switch onto any position.

我學會了怎麼當一個多才多藝的防守者，當我在克羅埃西亞的聯盟裡面的時候
是被團隊保護得很好的，沒有人會要求我去防守(我不叫Amare，謝謝)。但現
在，受到了花生教練的感召，如他所說，我開始希望自己變成一個「混合型球
員」。就是能在場上的各個位置切換並且發揮我的天賦。


“Defense is just a will,” said Bender, who turns 19 on Thursday. “It’s
just a matter if you want to play it or not. You have to follow the coaches’
 instructions about how you’re going to defend those teams. It doesn’t
matter if you’re weak or have less muscles than those guys, you just have to
fight with them for better position and get them out of there.”

「防守只是一種意志。」當我在星期四的比賽有了十九分鐘上場時間之後更深

Bender was the Suns' leader in plus-minus Sunday with Phoenix outscoring
Golden State by seven in his 14 minutes. He had five points, two rebounds and
a blocked shot.

When Watson watches his starting trio of Eric Bledsoe, Devin Booker and T.J.
Warren start the season with scoring averages of 18 or more, it reminds him
of the young trio Oklahoma City had in 2009-10, a season after he left the
Thunder.

當花生看著他的先發陣容中的 Bledsoe Booker Warren 三個人可以獲得場均
18分的表現以後，這讓他回顧到09-10年離開雷霆的時候，球隊裡面也有著這

“That’s bigtime,” Watson said. “I haven’t seen a team do that in a long
time, except for OKC when it had Russ (Westbrook), Kevin (Durant) and James
(Harden). It’s a gift. That’s why I’m not concerned about 3s. You can’t
be concerned about 3s when you got three of the best mid-range paint players
in the NBA.”

The Suns staff lauds Devin Booker’s work ethic and does not want to limit
the 20-year-old’s gym work.

花生讚揚了 Booker 的工作素養，並且不打算對他上健身房給予太多限制。

“I think people who limit who limit access to people in the gym never heard
of a guy by the name of Kobe Bryant,” Watson said. “You cannot limit the
access of players in the gym. It’s like telling our kids they read too much.
There’s no such thing. You can’t limit access. That’s what separates
longevity, good to great.

「我覺得那些想要限制球員不要上太多健身房的人一定都沒聽過 Kobe Bryant
的名字。」花生說：「你不能限制這些球員進出體育館，這就好像跟你的孩子
說你可別讀太多書一樣，哪有這種事？從長期來看，這就是好跟更好的區別。」


“I hope he sleeps in the gym."

* Warriors coach Steve Kerr on Booker: “He’s a future All-Star for sure. He
does a lot of things well and he’s got good size. Good competitor. So I’m a
big fan.”

Kerr 說他是 Booker 的 big fan ，他的 size 很好而且能夠做到很多事情。
他毫無疑問的會是下一個 All-Star 球員。

* Suns forward Jared Dudley on his strong 3-point shooting (19 for 38 this
season), especially since moving to the bench: “When you have more of a
veteran group, we tend to make the extra pass a little bit more so I’ve been
open.”

Dudley的三分球本季19-38，而在他被移動到板凳後他是這樣說的：「當你有

* Dudley said he does not want Chriss to get “3-point happy” after he made

slowing down and learning the pace of the game,” he said. “I’m just
observing instead of just trying to go, go, go.”

against Iowa in front of 2,345 fans at Prescott Valley Event Center. Phoenix
Suns roster rookie Derrick Jones Jr. scored 20 points and grabbed six
rebounds before fouling out in 30 minutes. Suns training camp player
Shaquille Harrison scored 20 for NAZ, which also got 19 points, eight assists
and six rebounds from former Jazz player Elijah Millsap.

北亞利桑那太陽隊獲得了賽季首勝，122-107分在2345名粉絲面前打敗了Iowa 。
