Spanish striker Raúl Gonzaléz Blanco became between 1996 and 2006 one of
the best-known symbols of the Spanish National team
Raúl González Blanco (born 27 June 1977) currently plays for New York
Cosmos as a striker. He played 3 World Cups (1998, 2002 and 2006) and two
European Cups  (2000 and 2004) which meant 102 international caps and 44
goals (the first against Yugoslavia in 1996). Raúl scored 32 goals in
competitive games, six of which were in the finals of major tournaments and
12 others on friendly games.

David Villa overtook Raúl as Spain's all-time leading scorer when he struck
his 45th international goal in a UEFA EURO 2012 qualifying win against
Scotland in Glasgow.  Both Spanish legends faced each other a few days ago in
the US Open Cup. The tournament hosted the first ever New York derby between
New York Cosmos and New York City.

Raúl is the second highest goalscorer in the history of the Spanish National
Team with 44 goals. He is one of the greatest players in the history of the
National team and today turns 38 years-old.
