[問題] 中介變項的英文敘述

各位版友好：
主要是在文獻中看到一句話寫著
"There were significant indirect effects of A on B when accounting for C."
想要請問的是，在這句話中，誰是預測變項、誰是依變項、誰是中介變項呢？
我覺得我被英文的敘述方式弄混了，謝謝大家的回應！
