The Pentagon is canceling the $10B Joint Enterprise Defense Infrastructure
cloud contract that became a bone of contention between Amazon.com (AMZN
+3.4%) and Microsoft (MSFT -0.7%).

"Due to evolving requirements, increased cloud conversancy, and industry
advances, the JEDI Cloud contract no longer meets its needs," the Pentagon
says.

Microsoft prevailed over Amazon Web Services for the deal in 2019.
That doesn't mean the Defense Dept. doesn't still need cloud computing. It's
announced a new multivendor contract, the Joint Warfighter Cloud Capability,
and it will solicit proposals from AWS and Microsoft, saying those are the
only providers that can meet its needs.
