Hyundai Engineering & Construction Secures Basic Design for Texas Nuclear
Reactors
Hyundai Engineering & Construction announced on the 26th that it has signed a
basic design contract with Fermi America, a U.S.-based energy development
specialist, for the construction of four large-scale nuclear reactors at a
complex energy and artificial intelligence (AI) campus in Texas.
現代工程建設公司（Hyundai Engineering & Construction，下稱現代建設）於26日宣布
，已與美國能源開發公司 Fermi America 簽署基本設計合約，內容涉及在德州一座結合
能源與人工智慧（AI）設施的綜合園區內，建設四座大型核電反應爐。
Under this contract, Hyundai Engineering & Construction will perform basic
design tasks, including site layout planning, cooling system reviews, and
budget and process calculations—the first phase of constructing the four
large reactors. The design does not include structural or functional
specifications for core equipment such as reactors and turbine-generators.
根據合約，現代建設將負責進行初步設計工作，包括場址佈局規劃、冷卻系統審查、預算
與流程計算等，這是建設四座大型反應爐的第一階段任務。
此次設計並不包括反應爐本體與汽輪發電機等核心設備的結構或功能細節。
The ‘Complex Energy and AI Campus’ is a private power grid complex being
developed by Fermi America on approximately 21,190,000 square meters of land
on the outskirts of Amarillo, northern Texas. Fermi America plans to build an
independent 11-gigawatt power supply infrastructure at the site, combining
four large reactors, small modular reactors (SMRs), gas combined cycle power,
solar power, and battery energy storage systems. This will be linked to a
large-scale AI data center.
這座名為「能源與AI綜合園區（Complex Energy and AI Campus）」的基地，是由 Fermi
America 在德州北部阿馬里洛（Amarillo）郊區開發的私人電網綜合園區，佔地約 2,
119萬平方公尺。
Fermi America 計畫在此建立一套獨立的 11GW（吉瓦）能源供應系統，整合 四座大型核
電廠、SMR小型模組化反應爐、燃氣複循環發電、太陽能與儲能電池系統，並與大型AI資
料中心相連。
Currently under review for integrated licensing by the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory
Commission (NRC), Hyundai Engineering & Construction will proceed with basic
design and main construction preparations in parallel, aiming to finalize an
engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contract in the first half of
next year.
目前該項目正在接受 美國核管會（NRC） 的綜合許可審查。現代建設將同步推進基礎設
計與主體施工準備工作，目標是在明年上半年完成工程、採購與施工（EPC）總合約的簽
署。
A source from Hyundai Engineering & Construction stated, “This contract is a
significant achievement that demonstrates Hyundai Engineering & Construction’
s position as a trusted nuclear power partner in the global energy market,”
adding, “We will continue to explore practical ways to strengthen cooperation
based on the close energy partnership between South Korea and the U.S.”
現代建設相關人士表示：「這項合約是一項重大成就，展現了現代建設在全球核能市場中
作為可信賴夥伴的地位。」
該人士並補充：「公司將持續尋求實際合作方式，進一步強化韓美之間的能源夥伴關係。
