My dear Blissers,
QE????
How QE emerges from the world?
How it operates?
How it brings impacts to the world?
How it influences on our investment portfolio?
Preceded by the economic tsunamis in the movie” The Big Short Part I”, the
world would have to endure its bitter fruits, which our insightful host,
Archer, is going to weigh over this coming Saturday!!!
Let’s learn this economic trend (QE) with Archer NOW!!!
Introduction of the meeting:
Remember? Last week, at the end of the movie, Mark said, “I just know that
at the end of the day, average people are going to pay for all of this
because they always, always do.”
This week we are going to see how we pay for this fraud!!!

During the meeting
As our devoted host, Archer, was professional and well-prepared, the meeting
proceeded as scheduled. We were glad we had three new Blissers, Ian Wang,
Nina Chen, and Jenny Wang who paid first visit, attracted by this
Globe-related topic via PTT and FB. Impressively, Archer brought his teaching
aid-Wooden Building Block to illustrate the economic crisis of 2008.
Housing Market Boomed
In the beginning, housing markets prospered and a lot of people made money by
buying and selling their houses, for which were not only places to live in
but also a good investment in the American Markets. Surely the bankers also
earnedcommissions and interests from the housing loans. Therefore, followed
by the market craze about Banking and Housing Loan business, the Mortgage
Bond of Real Estate was considered secure and solid.
Housing Market Collapsed
However, the trend turned around. The housing prices got lower; people
started to lose more money; accordingly, there were fewer and fewer profits
in the banking and loaning business.
Shaping Bubbles
To ensure loaning profits, bankers lowered the loan threshold at risk of more
mortgage delinquencies. In such vicious circle, the bubble began bigger.
Falsified Mortgage Bonds
To dig more profits in the market, bankers created AAA Bonds named CDO
(Collateralized Debt Obligation) and SCDO (Synthetic Collateralized Debt
Obligation) by bundling up the fewest% of AAA rated collateral, fewer %of BBB
one and most% of CCC one (trash bonds) via the Rating Agencies like Moody’s .
Aftermath
Soon the bonds prevailed in the markets at risks of declining economy.
Finally, the bubbles broke. The crisis cost 5 trillion loss in pension and
real estate value; 5 Bonds disappeared; 8 million people lost their jobs; 6
million people lost their home. Then FED started to bail out...
Reflections
We might have watched the movie “The Big Short” or heard about the 2008
crisis, but we understood more details from this meeting. Thank our host,
Archer and all the participants for the efforts and attendance.
