[解析]：

其實這題考你的只是時態問題，During my school days就表示「過去式」，

(4) have to只可以表示「現在」、「未來」。

而should(= ought to)只有在「子句」當中可以表示「過去」，不然都用had to。

ex. My father told me [that students should follow the haircut regulation].

: 題目二：I tried to dissuade him from his plane,but he_____ not hear my advice.
:        (1).will
:        (2).would
:        (3).shall
:        (4).should
: 答案還是would  我選should  照語意選should 他應該沒有聽我的建議.
: 這樣不能選should嗎?
[解析]：

should其實的確可以表示「可能性」，不過只用在肯定句。

ex. The bus should arrive in a few minutes.

如果用在否定的「可能性」，就用may或might，不舉例了。

所以should not會翻譯做「不應該」，先不論文法，這裡的文意是不會合的。

: 題目三：I have known many who could not when they ______, for they had not
:         done it when they could.
:       (1).did
:       (2).would

:       (4).could
: 這題不懂  但是他後面詳解竟然只寫了  照語意選would 但是連翻譯都沒翻譯= =
[解析]：

沒翻譯是挺扯的：
「我知道很多人願意去做卻沒能力做，因為他們有能力的時候不去做。」

will除了表示「未來式」還有「願意(= beV willing to)」的意思。

這裡的would就當「願意」的過去式，噢當然，would還有個意思叫做「會」，

表示「傾向」，用在現在或是未來：

ex. Mothers would protect their children if they are in danger.


: 題目四：I've lost one of my gloves. I __________ it somewhere.
:         (1).have been dropped
:         (2).should have dropped
:         (3).must have dropped
:         (4).could be dropped
: 答案(3)  但為何不能選(2)  翻成"我應該掉在某個地方". 這樣不能選should嗎?
[解析]：

這題有兩個觀念要講一下：

1. should have + Vpp：過去早該(表示過去應該這麼做卻沒這麼做)

ex. I should have listened to him, but I didn't.
    (我早該聽他話的，但我沒聽。)

2. must/may/might + have Vpp：表示對過去的肯定推測

ex. It must be raining outside. (表示「現在」)

ex. It must have rained last night, for the ground now is wet.
    (表示「過去」)

你這題表示的就是「過去一定」。

: 題目五：She was too nervous to reply,but fortunately she _____ anything.
:        (1).didn't need to say
:        (2).needn't to say
:        (3).needed not say
:        (4).needn't have said
: 答案(1)  但是need本身不是也可以當助動詞使用嗎???  所以4不能選嗎?
[解析]：

need使用情況：

1. 在肯定句中，need當一般動詞，後面如果接動詞要有to Vr。

ex. I need to do it now.

2. 在否定或是疑問句中，need可當一般動詞，也可當助動詞。
   need當助動詞時，不加s也不加ed。

ex. He didn't need to answer your question. [一般動詞]
    = He needn't answer your question.[助動詞]

ex. Did he need to answer my question? [一般動詞]
    = Need he answer my question? [助動詞]

3. didn't need to Vr：過去不需要，事實上也沒這麼做
   needn't have Vpp：過去不需要，但是事實上卻這麼做了(過去相反假設)
   ex. We didn't need to hurry, since we had plenty of time.
   ex. We needn't have hurried, but we woke up too late.
