關於nothing but的用法，我有在自己的文法社團貼過相關文章，茲列於以下： He did nothing but _____ for her coming back. (A) wait (B) waited (C) waiting (D) to wait He enjoys nothing but _____TV at home. (A) watch (B) watched (C) watching (D) to watch He wants nothing but _____TV at home. (A) watch (B) watched (C) watching (D) to watch 關於這三個題目，其實一般的人都會用以下這個邏輯做思考： 「nothing做前面及物動詞的受詞，but是對等連接詞，所以要跟前面的動詞一致。」 有時文法令人又愛又恨就是因為邏輯說得通，但是方向錯了那一點意義也沒了，因為答案 就錯了。 請注意，nothing but這個片語，就等於only，當做adv，基本上adv在句子裡面，除了否 定副詞以外，分析時都可以省略： ex. He is very handsome. = He is handsome. 但是否定副詞就不能亂省了： ex. He never likes you. 不等於 He likes you. 所以如果把上面三個題目的nothing but = only省略，就變成了： He did _____(wait) for her coming back. He enjoys _____(watch) TV at home.
