Suffering shoulder injury, Andre Agassi won't fly to Australia this year

Tennis - The eight-time Grand Slam champion won't play Adelaide exhibition and
 is unlikely to help Novak Djokovic in Melbourne

Andre Agassi will have to wait to make his comeback to (unofficial) tennis com
petition. The eight-time Grand Slam champion was expected to play the World Te
nnis Challenge event in Adelaide starting on January 9, and instead, he was fo
rced to withdraw due to a shoulder injury.

'I’m extremely disappointed to have to pull out of the World Tennis Challenge
', Agassi said. 'I had a snowboarding accident over the Christmas break and ha
ven’t quite recovered enough to fly out to Australia this year.

I was really looking forward to making my return to Adelaide. To all my fans I
’m sorry but I hope to be back soon.' WTC general manager David Hearne couldn
't do anything but wish Agassi a speedy recovery: 'The event has attracted som
e of the best names across the years and for the 10th year anniversary we thou
ght it would be great to get Agassi back to Adelaide', Hearne said. 'His name
speaks for itself and we hope to welcome him back to Adelaide in the future.'
Agassi is unlikely to help Novak Djokovic at the Australian Open (if the Serb 
plays), as he said that won't make it to Australia.
