[英中] 請問"第x順位的"如何翻譯？

假設有五個東西，依序為 甲乙丙丁戊
我想將以下翻譯成英文：
穿插地將第一順位的甲、第三順位的丙、第五順位的戊分到第一組
第二順位的乙與第四順位的丁分到第二組

目前翻成這樣：
甲 at the first order,
丙 at the third order,
and 戊 at the fifth order
are interweavingly assigned to the first group

外國人似乎看不太懂，請問如何翻譯較為恰當？
