YouTube will bring picture-in-picture to iPhones and iPads

The YouTube App on iOS will be getting picture-in-picture support, allowing all
users to watch videos while doing other things on their iPhones and iPads. A You
T
ube spokesman told The Verge that the feature is currently rolling out to Premiu
m subscribers, and that a launch for all iOS users (including the free ones) in
the US is in the works.

YouTube 發言人告訴本網站這項功能正在以 Premium 訂閱者為優先測試，該測試正在美國
進行。

Apple added support for picture-in-picture  video for iPads with iOS 9 , and bro
ught it to iPhones with iOS 14. Since then, YouTube’s support for the feature o
n iPhones and iPads has been spotty — it works for iPad if you’re using Safari
 (though some have reported it doesn’t work for non-Premium subscribers) ; iPho
ne users have only been able to access the feature periodically.

That complication seems to be going away, at least for those in the US: iOS user
s, with or without a YouTube Premium subscription, will soon have access to it u
sing the YouTube app as Android users have for years. YouTube did not provide a
timeline for when the feature would arrive for free users, but stated the rollou
t to Premium subscribers is in progress.

競爭似乎會結束，至少在美國是這樣：iOS 使用者不管有沒有訂閱 YT Premium 都可以在該
應用程式上使用此功能，雖然在 Android 系統上已經實行已久。YouTube 官方並沒有給出
確定的期限正式向免費使用者發佈此功能，不過此項支援已經在測試階段。
