[問題] 請問Research statement？

大家好
小弟今年要申請Upenn的MS
在填學校申請系統的表格時發現他要我們上傳一份Research Statement (Required not o
ptional):

Please provide a description of your research experience(s), including the goa
ls of each project, approaches used, results obtained, and implications of the
 findings for the project and the field at large. You may choose to describe a
 single research experience or several experiences, but please limit your stat
ement to around 1000 words in length.

小弟才疏學淺，
第一次看到要交這類文件、而且還是申請碩班就要，
想請問這是正常的嗎？版上也有人申請MS要交類似的東西嗎？
