Well, basically you are asking for the difference between "Homecoming" and
"Prom". Both of them are school dance. However, Prom is more formal, and
more expensive...:P. Homecoming usually taken place in Fall semester, like
October to November, depends on school, while Prom usually taken place in
March to April.
Before Homecoming or Prom, there will be an election, to elect Homecoming
King or Queen, and another election will taken place before Prom, for Prom
King/Queen. They can be the same person, but often not.
