我找到這題的出處了，答案是:

他猛然坐到一把椅子上，椅子被壓得吱吱作響。

不過我看到的原題是 "crashed down" 不是 "crushed down"。
Nevertheless, they are interpreted in the same way.

我想 crush down 不難解，就是猛然一坐的意思。
你可能想不出 protesting 在這裡的用法，所以才會想破頭 :-)
protest 本來是抗議，但椅子怎麼會抗議呢? 這裡用了擬人法形容
他坐下力道之猛，連椅子都發出抗議之聲。
