put one's name on the line 是什麼意思?

這好像是個idiom,但是字典查不到,也許是我字典太爛吧 = =
不知道哪位好心的板友可以告訴我這個詞是什麼意思,

如果這樣問線索太模糊的話,我自己有稍微google了一下,有發現幾篇有這個詞的文章

put on the line 指的是 put something at risk。

覺得不好記的話，可以想成 put something on the frontline。
把自己放在戰爭的最前線，最容易中槍。跟 stick one's neck out
的意思很接近。

所以 put your name on the line 指的是冒著自已名譽受損做某件事。
