Knicks Play Better, but Their Losing Streak Gets Longer
尼克打得更好了, 但連敗持續中

The ball had squirted loose, been gathered up, launched and bounced loose
again, finding its way, inevitably, back to Derrick Rose. A few steps and one
leap later, Rose was in flight, soaring over the paint, between Baron Davis
and Tyson Chandler and bearing down on the basket.

That powerful driving dunk in the middle of the fourth quarter did not by
itself clinch the Chicago Bulls’ 104-99 victory over the Knicks on Monday.
But it told the story.

The Knicks could not contend with the agility and ferocity of the league’s
reigning most valuable player, or match the all-out hustle of the Bulls, who
took the game by force in the fourth quarter with big rebounds and
second-chance points — including Rose’s stylish dunk.

The Knicks lost their sixth in a row, matching their longest streak of the
season, although it was perhaps their best effort of the bunch. Still, they
fell into eighth place in the Eastern Conference standings.

They could not contain Rose, who finished with 32 points, 7 assists and 6
rebounds. Their deficit was 5 points when Taj Gibson grabbed an offensive
rebound and flipped the ball to Rose for his driving dunk and a 97-90 lead.
The Knicks never got closer than 4 points after that.

Knicks (18-24) arrived with a debilitating losing streak, a fragile psyche
and the increasing anxiety that the season is slipping away.

D’Antoni was not entirely wrong. The Knicks got a resurgent performance from
Amar’e Stoudemire, a steady game from Jeremy Lin and double-digit scoring
from every starter. But they could not compete with the Bulls’ frantic
energy inside, or the tenacity of Joakim Noah (10 rebounds) and Gibson (13
rebounds). Chicago won the rebounding battle by 56-38, had 22 boards and
scored 24 second-chance points, including 8 in the fourth quarter.
冷笑話說的部分對了, 阿罵帶動了尼克, 林書豪這場打的穩定, 然後所有先發都有雙
位數得分的好表現. 可惜擋不下牛群在禁區內的狂奔, 也阻止不了不屈不撓的牛群狂
搶籃板 (Noah 10板, Gibson 13板).  公牛在籃板對抗中以56比38顆大勝, 獲得了22
顆進攻籃板以及從第二波進攻中豪取24分, 包含第四節靠二次進攻得到的8分

After being benched in the fourth quarter of Sunday’s humiliating loss to
Philadelphia, Stoudemire sprang to life, scoring 20 points, with an efficient
7-for-12 shooting line. He had 13 points in the third quarter, when the
Knicks erased a 7-point deficit. Carmelo Anthony shot erratically all game,
finishing with 21 points and an 8-for-21 field-goal performance.
上一仗第四節被冰在板凳的阿罵這場大回春, 12中7高效能的表現得到20分, 其中13分
是在第三節拿下的, 幫尼克追回了7分的落後. 但甜瓜整場亂投, 雖然拿了21分但卻只
有21投8中.

Tyson Chandler had 13 points and 10 rebounds. Chandler began his career here
11 years ago, at age 19, and spent five seasons growing up on the United
Center court. He clearly felt right at home attacking the rims here. He
scored three times in the first five minutes of the game and fueled an early
11-0 run.

The game was also a homecoming for Iman Shumpert, who grew up a Bulls fan in
the Chicago suburb of Oak Park. He marked his first game at United Center
with a jumper in the first quarter and finished the game with 6 points.

After Sunday’s loss, D’Antoni gave another impassioned defense of Lin and
said he would stick with him through his struggles.

He again stressed his confidence in Lin before tip-off.

“I’m not real concerned,” D’Antoni said, adding: “We’re making it hard
for him right now. And whenever the psyche is not right, the point guard
feels it the most. And probably an inexperienced point guard is going to feel
it a lot more. I like his game. I think he’ll get a lot better. I’m not
worried about him at all.”

Lin responded well, dishing out four assists in the first quarter, then
becoming increasingly aggressive as the half wore on, earning four free
throws in the second. He had 8 points, 5 assists and 2 blocks by halftime as
the Knicks took a 50-48 lead.

Lin got the best of Rose early in the third, stripping the ball to set up
Anthony for a fast-break layup.

But he paid a steep price at the other end of the court, struggling to
contend with Rose’s speed and strength. Rose tagged Lin with his third and
fourth fouls in 55 seconds in the third quarter.

As a sign of how far he has come, Lin heard louder boos than any other Knick
during introductions and heard taunts every time he checked in, missed a shot

with a booming chant: “Overrated.”

Jared Jeffries said Monday that he should be back in the rotation for
Wednesday’s home game against Portland after missing four games because of a
sore right knee. Jeffries had the knee drained last Thursday and said it “
feels a whole lot better now.” Jeffries originally injured his knee in a
Feb. 4 game against the Nets, he said, but he did not miss any games until
last week. “For whatever reason, the Dallas game, before the game I couldn’
t get loose,” he said. The Knicks’ defense sagged without Jeffries and
Tyson Chandler last week, but Jeffries played down his own absence. “We
played some good teams,” he said. “I don’t expect to come back and us to
go on like an eight-game winning streak. I think I can help.”
